Tucked in the picturesque and lush Jura valley, close to the Swiss border, ‘Le Printemps Palladien’ floral festival is set to take root on May 11 and 12, 2024. Set against the architectural gem of the French villa, Château de Syam, this event is a hybrid of magnificent floral exhibitions, professional conventions, rare plant markets, and floral showcases.

It’s organized by Gaétan Jacquet, one of the early bird myThursd members. Gaétan is a fantastic floral designer and an even more loved blogger on Thursd.com. He created a project on myThursd for growers and breeders to pitch on and help him with the flowers needed to make his event a success. De Ruiter Innovations is one of the companies that saw the possibility of showing off their flowers.

De Ruiter’s Roses at Le Printemps Palladien

Creating Flower Business

De Ruiter was founded in 1913 and has been working continuously on the breeding and improvement of the rose as a product. De Ruiter was originally a family business and has since grown into an organization of international renown in the breeding and propagation of numerous varieties of roses. So they saw an excellent opportunity to create a story and to give the roses a purpose at Gaétan’s event. Le Printemps Palladien is not just a place to visit, it will be an experience throughout the garden and villa.

The Palladian Villa

Build in 1818, the Château de Syam, known as ‘La Villa Palladienne’, is a residence with a square plan, centered on a peristyle of eight columns and three circular balconies, like a theater, in the spirit of the beautiful Italian villas of Master Andréa Palladio built in the 16th century.

‘EmotionBloom: A Journey Through Colorful Resilience’

Theme:

Within the confines of a circular open area encircled by a balcony, upstairs in the villa, ‘EmotionBloom’ invites visitors on a multisensory exploration of resilience and emotional expression. Through the language of color and the beauty of floral design, guests step on a transformative trip that illuminates the spectrum of human experience.

Story:

As visitors step into the circle around the balcony, they walk through a walkway, a kaleidoscope of color and fragrance. Each segment of the circle represents a different emotion, from joy and passion to sorrow and hope.

The space is alive with the vibrant hues of roses, each bloom carefully selected to evoke a specific feeling and tell a unique story of resilience. At the sides, installations known as the ‘Wheel of Emotions’ are placed. By spinning the wheel, guests can select different emotions and discover corresponding rose varieties and colors that reflect the beauty and strength inherent in each feeling.

Surrounding the ‘Wheel of Emotions’, interactive stations offer guests the opportunity to engage with color and floral design in new and unexpected ways. In the ‘Color Therapy Garden’, in another area outside, visitors can immerse themselves in monochromatic floral displays designed to evoke specific emotions and promote healing and well-being.

From the fiery reds of passion to the soothing whites of serenity, each monochromic design offers a sanctuary for introspection and renewal. As visitors make their way around, they encounter a series of storytelling alcoves dedicated to exploring the resilience of the human spirit.

These stories illuminate the power of emotion to inspire courage, compassion, and connection in the face of adversity.

The story of the ‘Wheel of Emotions’ stands as a beacon of light and transformation, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, there is beauty to be found in every shade of the human experience. Message to the World: ‘EmotionBloom’ celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of emotional expression.

By embracing the full spectrum of our feelings and finding strength in vulnerability, we can cultivate a deeper sense of connection and compassion for ourselves and others. Through the language of color and the beauty of floral design, the exhibition invites visitors to embark on a journey of self-discovery and renewal, illuminating the path to a more resilient and empathetic world.
