Zwaan & Partners Logistics, based in Marknesse, was taken over by the Hartman Group of Nieuw-Amsterdam on 1 January. The takeover involves all eight Zwaan & Partners combinations. The drivers have been informed and will all join the Hartman Group.
Zwaan & Partners is active in the transport and fine-meshed distribution of flowers and plants throughout Denmark for regular customers. This makes the company a good complement to the activities of Hartman Expeditie, which has its own branches in Vejle and Greve, Denmark. Director Ronald Hartman: “The activities of Zwaan & Partners fit in perfectly with our Danish operation and ensure a larger cargo flow and a further strengthening of our network. A strong point here is particularly the distribution of flowers and plants within Denmark.”
Planning to New Amsterdam
Zwaan & Partners’ drivers are stationed in Nieuweschans, where the drivers relieve each other between domestic trips and trips to Denmark. Zwaan & Partners’ planning will be transferred to their New Amsterdam branch, where Kees Zwaan will remain involved in planning.
Economies of scale
The reason given for the takeover is a lack of succession within Zwaan & Partners. With the takeover by the Hartman Group, the company benefits from the Hartman Group’s organizational structure and economies of scale. In recent years, a large Hartman Groep logistics center was built on Bedrijvenweg in Nieuw Amsterdam, including its own workshop, truck wash, and cross-dock facilities. The Hartman Group also includes J.P. Vis & Zn, a company that, like Zwaan & Partners, continues to operate under its own name. In addition, Brinkman Trans also belongs to the Hartman Group.
With the acquisition of Zwaan & Partners, the Hartman Group comprises a total of 135 tractor units, 300 trailers, and over 300 employees.
