Weather affects Christmas season 2022 at Veiling Rhein-Maas

The cool temperatures from early to mid-December, as well as current inflation, had an impact on the 2022 Christmas season at Veiling Rhein-Maas. Demand during this period was slightly lower than last year. The highest turnover during the Christmas period was achieved in calendar week 47, the so-called ‘green week’ before the first Advent. In addition, there is growing customer participation, especially in the webshop. In addition, the regional range in the webshop will be further expanded.

Particularly popular among the cut flowers were gerberas, Euphorbia fulgens, and exclusive products. Amaryllis and roses were, unfortunately, less popular than last year. Among potted plants, euphorbias, orchids as well as decorated plant bowls for Christmas and Christmas arrangements were popular with customers.

Sales of poinsettias went satisfactory, especially Minis and Midis were in good demand at stable prices.

Before spring, a normal supply of bulbous plants and flowers is expected at the marketplace in Straelen-Herongen. According to the current state of knowledge, the supply of products from importing countries should also proceed normally. In general, Veiling Rhein-Maas is optimistic about the spring of 2023.
