In 1933, M.M. (Tinus) Verkade started supplying heating installations at the Broekpolder pumping station in Honselersdijk. The company Verwarmingsinstallatiebedrijf M. Verkade was born. At this time, Verkade was mainly working in horticulture, where energy sources changed over the years from coal to oil and eventually to natural gas.
Tinus’ son Martin joined the company in 1965 and realized the new building on the Kerkstraat in Kwintsheul. Under his leadership, Martin set up the utility department, which included offices, industry, and housing. With the advent of the gas boiler, Verkade grew rapidly.
Ronald, Martin’s son, took an early interest in his father’s company. In 1992, he officially joined the company. From then on, Ronald focused first on expanding the utility business and then on exporting horticulture.

Verkade Klimaat has since grown into a global household name. From its new premises at the Turfschipper in Wateringen, which has added a new floor this year, targeted sustainable solutions and smart technologies are applied at home and abroad. In 90 years, the company has grown from a one-man business to a private limited company with more than 70 employees.
Open day
Verkade Klimaat is celebrating this anniversary with an open day on Saturday, September 23. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., everyone is welcome at Turfschipper 2, 2292 JA in Wateringen, to take a look inside the company. Verkade Klimaat will represent not only its own products and solutions. Various suppliers and installers will present their solutions in the horticultural sector, the private housing market, and business and leisure sectors.
There will also be the opportunity to obtain information on career opportunities, work-learning paths, and internships. Scholars with an affinity for technology can start developing their talents at the Verkade Academy.
