The US carrier is uplifting 50 percent more flowers in February for this year’s Valentine’s Day peak season, which, from Europe alone, amounts to some 417 tonnes, writes Thelma Etim.
AA Cargo is utilizing its trucking network and widebody aircraft to nurse Dutch tulips and roses to the United States, and beyond, via London’s Heathrow (LHR) and Paris’ Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airports, a statement reveals.
Emma Oliver, sales director for the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions at American Airlines Cargo: “It’s always exciting to see flowers move across our network at this time of year. Our teams are passionate about the careful handling of these shipments, knowing we play an important role for our customers and ultimately the people around the world who will celebrate Valentine’s Day with the flowers we carry.”
Ecuador exports 60 different types of roses, including First Red, Classi, Dallas, Mahalia, Madame Del Bar, and Royal Velvet red varieties. The Latin American nation’s floral inventory also includes yellow examples Allsmer Gold and Skyline, along with the pink-blossomed Anna Nubia and the purple Ravel and Gretta cultivars, Ecuador.com points out.
