UK: Wyevale Nurseries supplies trees as part of Council’s ‘tree planting’ ambitions

Wyevale Nurseries in Hereford has supplied more than 100 different projects with trees as part of Gloucestershire County Council’s commitment to plant at least a million trees (February 2023).

It has supplied trees, transplants, and container shrubs as part of the council’s ambition to reach its target by 2030.

Alan Young, Sales Executive at Wyevale Nurseries, said: “We first started working with Gloucestershire County Council in the 2021/2022 season, supplying 25 local villages with trees as part of an ‘Ash Dieback’ fund and other planting projects across the county. The project went extremely well, and this year it has accelerated. We are close to supplying more than 100 projects across the county as part of the council’s ambition to plant at least one million trees by 2030 in both rural and urban locations.”

“Most corners of Gloucestershire have seen trees and transplants being delivered to private gardens, urban local authorities, village parish councils, farmers, the National Trust, Forestry England, charity organizations, fruit farms, glamping, and camping sites.”

“We’ve supplied and delivered trees and transplants to the City of Gloucester, to Cheltenham town, deep into the Forest of Dean, around the River Severn, and high up on the Cotswold Hills, so the whole county has benefited from newly planted trees supplied by us.”

“On the back of supplying the trees, as part of the projects, we have also been supplying tree stakes, tree ties, bamboo canes, spiral guards, tubex tree guards, and other sundry items with every tree or transplant supplied. The project is only set to gain pace in the years leading up to 2030, and we’re very excited to be helping out.”

Wyevale Nurseries’ product selection is envied across the industry, and the talented team regularly introduces new, award-winning plant varieties.

Its main business is to supply garden centers, landscape contractors, local authorities, foresters, and landowners with a comprehensive array of trees, shrubs, hedging, herbaceous and specimen plants.

Cllr David Gray, Cabinet member responsible for the environment at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “We are pleased to use a local supplier to help us deliver on our ambition to plant one million trees by 2030.

“We are working on a number of projects to plant trees across the county. Planting trees will play an important role in us working to create a Greener Gloucestershire.”
