Towards sustainable, local, community-driven production

Osho has recently initiated the Pyrethrum project, with which they say they will showcase their commitment to sustainable sourcing and community empowerment. At the crux of their project are the local pyrethrum farmers.

“We have established a mutually beneficial relationship that ensures a steady supply of high-quality pyrethrum flowers for our products. These flowers are the primary source of pyrethrin, a natural insecticide renowned for its effectiveness in crop protection and public health applications,” says Rushabh Shah of Osho.

Through this project, Osho not only supports local farmers by providing them with a reliable market for their produce but also ensures the production of eco-friendly and safe agricultural and public health inputs. By fostering such partnerships, Osho intends to continue the promotion of responsible sourcing practices and deliver effective and sustainable solutions to farmers and consumers alike.

Osho’s commitment to sustainable sourcing and community empowerment doesn’t stop there, however. With their plans of establishing light manufacturing facilities in all the countries they are active in, they aim to localize operations and contribute to the economic development of the regions they serve.

“By setting up manufacturing facilities in these countries, we aim to produce at a more localized level, reducing logistical challenges and improving the availability of products to farmers. These expansions would also create employment opportunities, encourage technology transfer, and promote skills development within the local communities, which is in line with our vision.”

Another initiative by which Osho aims to empower communities is through their internship program. Providing young graduates with real-life work experience and valuable exposure to the industry.

“We think it’s extremely important to nurture young talent, and high-performing interns are recognized and offered a position in the company. This approach not only provides an opportunity for young talents to launch their careers but also allows Osho to benefit from fresh perspectives and innovative ideas from the next generation of leaders.”
