The 2023 Taiwan International Orchid Show will be held between March 4th to March 19th at Taiwan Orchid Technology Park in Houbi District, Tainan.
Taiwan is one of the most important orchid suppliers and exporters worldwide. The “Taiwan International Orchid Show,” which has gone through 19 years, is one of the top three orchid exhibitions in the world and an important stage for displaying Taiwanese orchids. This year, “Orchid Mirror – Witness the New Beginning” is used to lead the public to travel through time and space to explore the origin of orchids and connect the past and the future through different themes.
When you come to Houbi Wushulin in Tainan, you will see this show is built up by orchids and dinosaurs for the first time in Taiwan, a themed pavilion created by connecting dinosaurs with orchids, time-traveling from Darwin to kaleidoscopes; more than thousands of orchids from different growers will be judged by over hundreds domestic and foreign judges in Hall 2; the design in Hall 4 is based on the Europe Villa to create the following area, including orchid bookstore, coffeeshop, home flower display, 33 DIY courses, 12 floriculture performances, 13 lectures and paintings by Students; in Hall 3 gathering 30 domestic and foreign companies, providing the professional conduct area mainly for business trading, which create 10 billion dollars of orchid orders every year; there will be 55 vendors with various type of souvenir, people will not only enjoy the beauty of the orchids in Hall 5; on the theme avenue, 24 unique orchid landscape displays are designed by the skillful students from various colleges and universities; in Orchid Park, a mascot “Orchidsaur” with a height of 12 meters and a length of 19 meters will be debut; in Vanda Lake, there is also the 8-meter-high “Mr. Please” who is a good friend of Orchidsaur is here waiting for you to take a photo and check in.
In addition to knowing the origin of orchids uncovered by a bee from 65 million years ago, seeing dinosaurs, and meeting a new friend, “Orchidsaur,” all adults and children will also walk into the hatching tunnel created by life pulsation and the kaleidoscope created by mirror reflection. Of course, the popular “Interactive Orchid Drawing” will also be presented this year, don’t forget to experience Interactive Ball Pool, Digital Voting and VR theater, and so on. Hall 1
The main landscape area is based on the origin, development, and changes of orchids through the magic world. We specially invited the judge from the Taiwan Floriculture competition to scheme “orchid of mirrors-witness the new beginning” as the theme. Combine three elements, orchid, dinosaur, and reflection, to make prehistoric animals and modern technicians create the track of the future. Through the power of magic, mirrors reflect hundred various kinds of orchids. At the scene, it will combine floriculture with lighting effects to show the origin of the orchid and also connect the past and future to bring a new art style of floriculture.
Hall 2
More than thousands of orchids from different growers are here to compete. The champion of the orchid will be selected after a rigorous review, processing over hundreds of domestic and foreign judges. People will be able to admire and take photos with the orchids in all these different areas, Individual Plants Area, Medal Champion Orchids Area, and Group Champion Orchids Area in this Hall. Also, there will be a TIOS Memo, Interactive Orchid Drawing, Interactive Ball Pool, and Digital Voting for people of all ages to enjoy and experience the show.
Hall 3
Gather 30 domestic and foreign companies and provide the professional conduct area mainly for business trading, creating 10 billion dollars of orchid orders every year. There is also a digital B2B trading platform, “Taiwan Flora Virtual Pavilion,” which will be shown on a touch screen.
Hall 4
The design here is based on the Europe Villa to create the following area like a Home Flower Display, Flora Show/ DIY, Paintings by Students, Imagery of Flora, TIOS Souvenir, Coffeeshop, and Tainan Agriculture Products. More than a dozen well-known florists have planned 33 DIY courses, 12 floriculture performances, 13 lectures, and other interactive courses, providing the public with a variety of options for static appreciation and dynamic interaction.
Hall 5
There will be 55 vendors with various types of souvenirs, like plants, garden tools, cultural creations, biotechnology of orchids, and so on, for visitors to purchase. People will not only enjoy the beauty of the orchids here at the scene but can also take the admired orchids home to create different atmospheres in their living rooms. There will also be a CITES booth to support export for foreigners.
Theme Avenue
Theme Avenue is presented in three different styles, forest, fields, and beach, which give visitors a very comfortable space to relax, take photos, and check in. There will be a “National Cup Education Youth Farmer Landscape Display.” Twenty-four unique orchid landscape displays are designed and set up by skillful students from various colleges and universities. Symbiotic Base creates a world where plants and art coexist, and VR theater presents a virtual film that will also be on Theme Avenue for visitors to visit and experience.
Orchid Park
The mascot of the Taiwan International Orchid Show, Orchidsaur, will be presented for the first time! At a height of 12 meters and a length of 19, Orchidsaur will be at the orchid park. They also sell picnic mats of Orchidsaur at the event. Orchid Park and Vanda Lake will be very good spots to check in, relax and enjoy the view.
Vanda Lake
There will also be an 8 meters high “Mr. Please,” who is a friend of “Orchidsaur” and will join him right by the Vanda Lake.
