At Fruit Logistica, Agrolux is launching a new light fixture. Nick Boelen, Agrolux, said. “When it comes to efficiency, we have increased the output of the LED fixture WEGA MAX introduced last year, currently best performing while maintaining uniformity, to an output of up to 3750µmol/s. In Berlin, we are launching the WEGA MAX High Efficiency (HE). This has a ‘record-high’ efficiency and an output of up to 4000µmol/s. This max model is also 1040 watts, dimmable, and available before next season.”
Agrolux Netherlands’ Global Sales Director Prohort sees the demand for more efficient LED lighting increasing all the time. “Every grower wants more light with less energy. Logical too, because this results in more yield and less cost. The grower also wants to have more control over the light.”
For example, in the number of hours per day or in terms of intensity. After all, these are essential elements for consistent growth. With these principles in mind, Agrolux set to work. And it has been translated into a number of new products that offer growers better solutions for increased energy costs.
Energy savings

Partly due to energy prices, demand for LED lighting has accelerated, and demand for HPS in Europe has fallen sharply. Growers are fully engaged in saving on their energy costs, and with LED, savings of 30-50% are achievable, making the switch in the current economic climate a quick payback. The energy transition is in full swing, and we are naturally pleased that we can make a structural contribution to more sustainable crop lighting with our energy-saving product portfolio.”
Far-red
With the WEGA Dual Channel, Agrolux answers the call for lights that allow crop control. This season is the first time this technology is applicable in the WEGA portfolio. They have done, and are still doing, a number of trials with strawberries and various flowers, among others, with both research partners and growers.
Nick: “Finally, we complete our product portfolio with the WEGA Eco Lite, an ‘entry-level’ product with an output of up to 1950µmol/s at a power consumption of 540W. This new product gives as much light as an HPS 1040W, and with a simple 1-to-1 replacement, the grower saves almost 50% energy without light loss. Both models are available before next season. We can, therefore, proudly say that we can provide tailor-made services to every grower.”
