Netherlands: Worldwide interest for Keukenhof

April 25, 2023

Keukenhof is blooming, and many visitors are enjoying the flowers. In 2019, a record-breaking 1.5 million people visited the spring garden. Will the record be broken this year? We will see.

Last week, during the Easter holidays, the park was already fully booked, and it was again this weekend. We also paid a visit during this busy weekend and have provided an impression below.

More than a spring garden
Keukenhof is more than a spring garden. Also, inside, visitors could see flowers and plants. There were, for example, several flower shows (like the Alstroemeria show, Lisianthus and Gerbera show, Calla, Carnation and Summer flowers Show, and Lilyshow) at the Oranje Nassau Pavillion, an Orchidee, and Anthurium show at Beatrix Pavillion and tulips, plants and more varieties of flowers at the Willem-Alexander Pavillion. And, of course, a Dutch windmill, clogs, many terraces, selfie spots, food stands, and an optional boat trip.

Usually, the park attracts thousands of visitors per day, many being older people and families, but also, many youngsters come to enjoy the beautiful flowers.

International visitors
Usually, approximately 20 percent of Keukenhof visitors are from the Netherlands, and 80 percent are foreign. During the Easter holidays, Keukenhof welcomed 145,000 visitors in four days. In that weekend, the spring garden was sold out and welcomed a lot of German, British, US, and Dutch families. This weekend, we also heard from a lot of French and Ukrainian people. Keukenhof and the Bulb Region are tourist hotspots at Easter.

Tulip fields
Besides the park, also the flower fields in the area attract a lot of attention.

Open until May 14
The 7 million flowers in the park create not only a sea of colors but also a wonderful fragrance. Keukenhof opened its doors on March 23 and will remain open until May 14, 2023.
