“We can do pelargonium, no question about it, but there are more and more inquiries for herbs, perennials and structural plants” says Jörg Mehle, Sales Director at Elsner pac®. During the recent IPM Essen, he received a lot of those inquiries. “With southern production farms in Kenya and Portugal and a new facility in Thiendorf near Dresden in Germany, Elsner pac is well prepared for the future”, he says.

At the IPM Essen, this became clear once again, and new business could be initiated outside the known product groups. In the meantime, Elsner pac also supplies producers in Eastern Europe with young herb plants who need large quantities in weekly deliveries for the food industry. “The entire herb production in Portugal is bio-certified (Ecocert), a must-be factor to implement this business model.”
“Of course, we are still active as a breeder with leading pelargonium varieties, but we have also made great progress with pot carnations and petunias and can score points on the market with varieties and matching concepts for them,” adds owner Martina Feindura. “IPM was an excellent opportunity for us to make new contacts and maintain existing ones.”
