On the morning of March 1, the trade show HortEx Vietnam 2023 opened its doors in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. “A great comeback,” organizer Kuno Jacobs says, referring to the busy start of the day.

Vietnam’s horticultural and floricultural industries are developing rapidly, gradually shifting from traditional open-field production to protected cultivation. Food safety and quality are becoming increasingly important due to the growing demand for safe food and high standards from local consumers and increased exports to various export markets, including the EU. The Vietnamese horticulture and flower industry grew rapidly between 2007 and 2017, with a 27% year-on-year increase.

The opening ceremony featured nearly 200 exhibitors from 25 countries. The exhibition was opened by the Director General of VEAS.

Lê Vãn Dúrc, Director General of Crop Production Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Kees van Baar, Ambassador of the Netherlands.

Mr. Lê Quôc Dien, Deputy Director General, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dong Thap Province.

With 33 Dutch companies exhibiting as partner countries, the growing challenge of climate change brings more opportunities. Vietnam’s GDP is expected to grow by about 7% by 2023. According to these figures, Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing economies in the ASEAN region.

A Dutch pavilion made of sustainable materials will be one of the highlights of the exhibition.

Vincent from LockDrives, Germany, brings greenhouse transmission solutions.

NPI from the Netherlands at the show, showing their water tank storage solution.

Flower breeder Dummen Orange is present at the show.

In the evening, the Dutch embassy hosted drinks. Trade show organizer Kuno Jacobs welcomed the guests.

More information about the show will be shared this week, so stay tuned for further reports.
