At the Dutch Gerbera nursery Jac. Oudijk it’s time for celebration because the 50 millionth Gerbera of 2022 has left the nursery. A milestone that has only once been achieved this early in the season.
“Especially since the ornamental industry found itself in quite the rough waters this year, we thought this would be worth the celebration,” says grower Dirk-Jan Oudijk. “That’s why this morning, we put the 50 millionth Gerbera, along with a nice (and tasty) surprise for the paying customer on transport.”
Co-owner Laurens Oudijk expects that in the remaining weeks of 2022, about 4 to 5 million Germini’s will find their way to the customers. “We have spent the past few years investing considerably in a more efficient operation. Because of this, even at this time, we have a substantial amount of high-quality Germini’s available for our regular customers.”
