Alexandra Farms garden roses win five awards at SAF’s varieties competition

Alexandra Farms has been awarded several ribbons in the 2023 Outstanding Varieties Competition. The contest was part of the 138th annual Society of American Florists’ Convention in Phoenix, held earlier this month.

Each year, a team of judges evaluates hundreds of entries on the following criteria: color and commercial appeal, stem and foliage, bloom form, bloom size, and overall quality and presentation.

Princess Fairy Kiss Pink Spr was awarded a Blue Ribbon. Princess Fairy Kiss Pink Spr’s many wavy petals unfurl slowly to form large, long-lasting, rounded blooms. She has a delicate yet luminous shade of blush pink. Princess Fairy Kiss Pink Spr is a Japanese spray garden rose launched in 2022.

Hettie™ (AUSCP17117), a brand-new variety to the market, was awarded a Red Ribbon. Hettie is a bright, sassy, striking pink rose with layers of wavy petals opening into a wide, shallow, rosette-shaped cup. While her scent is elusive, her charm and beauty are confident and captivating. She brings a lovely splash of color and is a stunning rose. Hettie, bred by David Austin Roses, was launched in August 2023.

Princess Hitomi (Beautiful History) was awarded a Red Ribbon. The divine Princess Hitomi is a cotton-candy pink-colored garden rose bred in Japan. Within a single bloom, she contains complex and fascinating figures. She opens into a layered array of starry points, and on the inside of the bloom, she’s a seemingly never-ending swivel of lavender-scented petals. Princess Hitomi blends the charm of child-like innocence with elegance and sophistication. This variety was launched in 2019.

Bessie™ (Ausperidot) was awarded a Red Ribbon. Bessie’s buttery cream-colored petals form the quintessential English garden rose. She blooms into a deep, symmetrical cup with 100 furled and lightly floral-scented petals. Bessie, bred by David Austin Roses, is a dignified and timeless classic and was launched in 2023.

Symbol was awarded a Red Ribbon. Richly colored blooms of a vivid tan yellow, with edges dipped in dark, earthy pink, make Symbol a dramatic rose that begs for the spotlight. She has large, long-lasting blooms that open widely, holding her shape with tightly furled petals at the center. This Dutch-bred beauty is a showstopper! Symbol was launched in 2023.
