“2023 will be ‘most sustainable year for Flower Logistics ever'”

It was a bit all in one: a Knowledge Day, an open house, networking, presenting their services, and highlighting its cooperation with customers. With all these reasons in mind, FlowerWatch welcomed partners, customers, and relations to its new location at Tech Campus De School in Roelofarendsveen, the Netherlands, last week.

Jeroen van der Hulst welcomes guests

Setting standards and collecting data with the ultimate goal of improving the quality and vase life of flowers is the company’s big mission. Under Jeroen van der Hulst’s leadership, chain parties – and that means all parties that own the flowers at any given time – are linked together, because only in close cooperation can that quality be guaranteed from ‘farm to vase’.

Present at the Knowledge Day were a number of parties/partners who cooperate with FlowerWatch and contribute to optimal transport conditions in one way or another. These were KLM, Kuehne Nagel, Cargolite and Weber Cooling. The first two obviously bear a great responsibility in maintaining quality during transport; for the latter two in particular, they can make an important contribution. ‘Refrigerate, keep cool, and re-cool where necessary. That’s what all these parties together pretty much have as their motto,’ Jeroen summarises.

A similar day has been organised several times before in Kenya. There, too, the company has been known for years for its courses and advice, and so these Knowledge Days are well attended. At the last edition, 240 people attended .

The Tech Campus De School, by the way, is an interesting building. The former secondary school has been purchased by an IT company, which in turn sublets part of it to third parties. FlowerWatch is one of them, but all sorts of things are happening there. For instance, the local library is also in the building. There is a theatre hall (where the meeting was held), self-employed people can rent spaces, and 27 social rental flats are being built in the former gymnasium.

More information on Tech Campus De School can be found here.
