Dutch orchids dazzle at Milan Design Week

2 Min Read

From April 16 to 21, hundreds of Dutch orchids are showcased at Masterly, an exhibition dedicated to Dutch design during the Milan Design Week. Masterly gathers a dynamic collective of designers, artists, craftsmen, companies, and colleges. Each year, the collective is selected by the curator and founder, Nicole Uniquole. For the fourth consecutive year, orchids brighten the iconic Palazzo Giureconsulti in Milan.

Orchids and design: a perfect symbiosis
As a natural work of art, the orchid has been a source of inspiration for artists and designers. Their vibrant colors and unique shapes serve as a timeless source of inspiration for design and are indispensable in contemporary interiors. For this reason, it’s not surprising that Nicole Uniquole opted to showcase orchids during the Dutch design exhibition. Upon entering the palazzo, the colorful plants immediately stand out. In vertical installations, arranged by Sand en Spijker from Delft (the Netherlands), a wide-range of high-quality Dutch orchids can be admired.

On the last day of the event, all the orchids are offered to the residents of Milan. This annual tradition is a gesture of gratitude for the city’s hospitality. This moment attracts a large amount of people. Those who receive the long-flowering plants can continue to enjoy them at home for a long time.

Masterly takes place from April 16 to 21 at the Palazzo Giureconsulti, Piazza dei Mercanti 2, Milan, Italy. More information can be found at www.orchidsinfo.eu.
