Beyond plant care instructions

“We’re trying to encourage growers to see tags as a marketing opportunity as much as an opportunity to share plant care information. Customized plant tags with a logo help to promote the business by showing consumers where their plants are coming from and helping them seek out products from the greenhouses they like,” says Lindsay Voogt, sales representative for plant care tags at Global Horticultural Inc.

Working directly with growers and designers, Lindsay helps growers design the right tags for their product – anything from the simplest plant care tags to intricately detailed tags with logos, the greenhouse’s color scheme, etc.

“Some growers are happy with having a simple tag with plant care instructions. Others are now using plant tags to advertise, especially when the product is sent to and sold through a garden center,” Lindsay explains.

Growers can work directly with Lindsay and her team to design their custom tags, but they can also send in an existing design if they already have one. Designs are then reviewed to ensure that they fit well with the materials, shape and size requested, then sent off to the printer.

Recyclable plastic or craft/paper tags
The tags are produced in Europe, where the regulations for recycling and the use of recycled materials are much more stringent than in North America. As a result, the plastic tags are made from recycled materials and are 100% recyclable.

“The recycled polypropylene and polystyrene materials used to create the tags are 100% waterproof, produced with inks and protective layers without solvents, and have UV coatings to protect against sunlight,” says Lindsay.

Lindsay and the Global Horticultural Inc. team will be at Cultivate’24 in July, with a photo album that attendees can flip through to see samples of the various designs and options available to growers.
